ED 631 Instruction of Reading Literacy

Focuses on key concepts at the core of effective reading instruction for diverse early childhood learners. Teacher candidates engage in instructional units, lessons, and techniques to address the five major components of reading instruction; phonological and phonemic awareness; phonics, spelling and word study; fluency development; vocabulary; and comprehension. Candidates practice differentiated planning and implementation of strategies based on individual student needs.
