Athletics at SU
Stevenson's athletic facilities are among the best in Division III. To accommodate its growth and expansion, the University opened its Owings Mills campus in 2004. Two years later, it acquired the former headquarters and practice facility for both the NFL's former Baltimore Colts and two-time Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens.
The Caves Athletics Complex, a 60,000 square foot modern facility, is located on the Owings Mills campus and serves the needs of more than 800 NCAA and Club student athletes as well as the general student body. On-campus facilities include the Caves Sports and Wellness Center, Garrison Student Center, Owings Mills Gymnasium, Beach Volleyball Courts, Club Bermuda Grass Field, Mustang Stadium and Owings Mills East Athletic Complex.
The first floor of the Caves Sports and Wellness Center features a fully-equipped fitness center, athletic offices, an athletic training room, and team rooms. The second floor is dedicated to classrooms, and a commuter student lounge, as well as faculty and staff offices. It also houses the Caves Wellness Center and the Center for Diversity & Inclusion. The Owings Mills Gymnasium is located adjacent to the Caves Sports and Wellness Center on the Owings Mills campus. Designed to host NCAA Division III playoffs, the gym is 15,000 square feet, has a hardwood floor, and seats approximately 1,500 spectators.
Fall of 2022, the Owings Mills East Athletic Complex opened. This facility boasts a 117-acre addition that provides two additional Bermuda grass fields designed for soccer, a Kentucky bluegrass field for general use, a baseball field, softball field, an 8-lane track and a premier astro-turf field hockey surface. These additions will serve more than 350 Varsity and club student-athletes along with use by the general student population, recreation and intramural use.
There are two fitness centers available for student use. The first is located in the Caves Sports and Wellness Center, and the second is located in Garrison North in the new Garrison Student Center. To access each fitness center, students must present their student ID to the attendant on duty.
Intercollegiate Athletics
Stevenson University participates in 29 NCAA Division III sports as a member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences with the exception of men's and women's ice hockey, which compete concurrently in the MAC and the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC), women's beach volleyball, which competes as an independent, and acrobatics & tumbling, which competes in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA). The Mustangs are also affiliated with the ECAC for all sports, which provides for additional post season opportunities besides the NCAA championships. Those interested in participating on one of Stevenson's 29 intercollegiate athletic teams should contact the head coach of that sport using the staff directory under "Inside Athletics" on GoMustangSports.com..
Club Sports
For students who wish to keep competing in college but are not taking part in one of the University's NCAA teams, a club sports team would be an excellent choice. All club teams have a coach, multiple structured practices each week, and compete against other colleges and universities on the weekends. Club sports are open to all Stevenson full-time undergraduate and graduate students.
Current club sports include baseball, cheerleading, dance team, men's ice hockey (2 teams), men's soccer, field hockey, women's soccer, softball, and women's volleyball. Students who are interested in joining any of these teams, or learning how to start a team, should contact Matt Grimm (Associate Athletic Director, Campus Recreation) by e-mail at mgrimm@stevenson.edu or by phone at 443-352-4280.

Intramural Sports
The Intramural Sports program consists of leagues and tournaments that are played against other members of the Stevenson community (students, faculty, and staff). Most sports offer three divisions: men’s, women’s, and co-ed. Games are typically in the evenings after classes, and schedules are made based on facility and team availability. All leagues and tournaments are scheduled on campus and are officiated by SU students. Some of the intramural sports offered include flag football, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. For more information on which sports are being offered or how to register, please contact Brittany Bizila (Coordinator, Campus Recreation) by email at bbizia@stevenson.edu or by phone at (443)352-5540
