Admitted Bachelor's to Master's Students
Students may complete a maximum of 50% of the credits required for the graduate program while they are still an undergraduate student. Students must successfully complete a minimum of 120 credits for a bachelor’s degree. These credits include program requirements, University SEE requirements, and general electives. A maximum of six graduate credits can be used to fulfill bachelor’s degree requirements.
Upon acceptance into the Bachelor’s to Master’s Option, students work with their undergraduate academic advisor to develop an academic plan that includes their chosen graduate courses and ensures all undergraduate degree requirements will be fulfilled appropriately. They must obtain permission from their undergraduate advisor to register for any graduate course, and the appropriate SUO Student Success Coach will complete the student’s registration for graduate courses in each session. Students are not able to register for or drop graduate level courses on their own.
Eligibility for full-time undergraduate tuition and/or the full amount of financial aid requires enrollment in a minimum of 12 credits that are fulfilling undergraduate degree requirements in each semester until the bachelor’s degree is completed. Bachelor’s to Master’s students may enroll in a graduate course in the 8W1 and/or 8W2 term. If a student drops a graduate course that is counting toward their undergraduate degree requirements before the add/drop deadline for the relevant term, they may lose their eligibility for the full financial aid amount unless they add another course that fulfills undergraduate degree requirements. Students are required to consult with the Office of Financial Aid as they work with their academic advisor and SUO Success Coach to plan their coursework.
Once students earn their bachelor’s degree, they are reviewed for admission into the master’s program. Upon formal acceptance into the graduate program, students will be recognized as a graduate student and begin paying at the graduate cost per credit rate.
Good academic standing in the Bachelor’s to Master’s Option requires a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA for all graduate courses taken for credit. The grade of "C" is the lowest acceptable passing grade in graduate courses. Failure to maintain good academic standing will result in probation and/or suspension as outlined in the Academic Probation/Suspension policy.
