FMI 315 Writing About Film and Media

Provides an opportunity to analyze the structure and format of films, television programs, and other moving-image and performance-based works. Through intensive writing projects and in-class discussions, students compare and contrast professional criticism and popular reviews, and synthesize theoretical frameworks into their own critical coverage of media. Students evaluate writing strategies and aesthetic choices employed by filmmakers and other moving-image and performance artists, writing through a significant revision process that includes peer and instructor feedback.
