NURS 750 Graduate Nursing Practicum, Leadership/Management

This course is designed to provide an opportunity for students in the Leadership/Management concentration to apply nursing leadership and management concepts in selected health care delivery environments during a 135-hour practicum experience.  During their practicum, students will complete an evidence-based practice project relevant to the role of the nurse leader/manager and present a deliverable project to be utilized by the practicum site that will improve current leadership/management practices. Students will also create a practicum project poster to document the evidence-based practice process of acquiring new knowledge to promote sustainable change. This course emphasizes: analysis and evaluation of concepts of organizational culture; demonstration of competencies needed to effect change in organizations; evaluation of organizational outcomes; participation in strategic planning and goal setting; analysis of allocation of human and financial resources; and analysis of regulatory, ethical and legal issues in practice settings.
