Learning and Living
Motto: “Pro Discendo, Pro Vivendo" (For Learning, For Living)
The motto on the university’s seal reflects a long-standing commitment to prepare students to become reflective and accomplished people committed to lifelong learning and contribution. The simple premise on which the Stevenson approach rests is that the main ingredients of a good education are good teachers, the opportunity for personal attention and interaction between students and teachers, current and engaging curricula, learning by doing, a warm and supportive community, and an intentional connection to career.
In a vibrant campus environment conducive to intellectual growth and personal self-discovery, Stevenson University offers curricula that give students a strong foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, plus skills and knowledge in their major fields, in a mentoring environment of small classes and personal attention and support by faculty. All students complete Stevenson Educational Experience (SEE) courses that develop skills in writing, communication, and math and provide a basic understanding of the key disciplines in the liberal arts and sciences. Courses in the majors provide opportunities to acquire proficiency in a specific discipline that will prepare students for employment in their chosen field of study or for graduate school.
