HCM 212 Healthcare Information Systems

Examines healthcare information systems (HIS), laws, and regulations surrounding the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of health information. Security of and access to medical records and protected health information are covered. The roles of healthcare providers, patients, administrators, payers, accrediting bodies, and licensing agencies in computerized health information management will be investigated. Issues in health information systems management will be analyzed through case studies and real world examples.
