Admission to Graduate Programs

The Graduate Admissions Office is committed to ensuring that the incoming classes will be comprised of highly qualified individuals representing a diversity of academic and professional backgrounds and accomplishments. Admission to the master's degree programs is open to individuals who have attained bachelor's degrees from regionally accredited colleges or universities.

Applicants to the graduate programs are expected to have a cumulative GPA in past academic work of no less than 3.00 on a four-point scale. All applicants are given opportunities to discuss their professional experience in the areas of their desired programs via the résumé and writing samples.

Admission to the Business and Technology Management, Communication Studies, and Forensic Studies programs requires the following:

  1. Completed Graduate Application .
  2. Official college transcripts from each post-secondary institution previously attended. Students who have completed post-secondary academic coursework outside of the United States must submit an official course-by-course transcript evaluation from either World Education Services (WES) or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
  3. Cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a four-point scale in past academic work.
  4. Writing sample—250-350 words.
  5. Letters of recommendation—academic or work-related (Optional).
  6. Résumé of professional experience (Optional).

Admission to the Cyber Forensics program requires the following:

  1. Completed Graduate Application .
  2. Official college transcripts from each post-secondary institution previously attended. Students who have completed post-secondary academic coursework outside of the United States must submit an official course-by-course transcript evaluation from either World Education Services (WES) or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
  3. Cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a four-point scale in past academic work.
  4. Writing sample—250-350 words.
  5. Two letters of recommendation—academic or work-related.
  6. Résumé of professional experience.

Admission to the Forensic Science program requires the following:

  1. Completed Graduate Application .
  2. Official college transcripts from each post-secondary institution previously attended. Students who have completed post-secondary academic coursework outside of the United States must submit an official course-by-course transcript evaluation from either World Education Services (WES) or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
  3. Writing sample—250-350 words.
  4. Completion of baccalaureate degree in chemistry, biology, or other equivalent natural science, or forensic science from a regionally accredited institution.
  5. Cumulative and math/science GPA in past academic work of no less than 3.00 on a four-point scale.

Completion of the following course prerequisites:

  • General chemistry I and II and lab (8 credit hours)
  • Organic chemistry I and II and lab (8 credit hours)
  • Biology I (4 credit hours)
  • Calculus (3 credit hours)
  • Statistics (3 credit hours)

Admission to the Healthcare Management program requires the following:

  1. Completed Graduate Application .
  2. Official college transcripts from each post-secondary institution previously attended. Students who have completed post-secondary academic coursework outside of the United States must submit an official course-by-course transcript evaluation from either World Education Services (WES) or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
  3. Cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a four-point scale in past academic work.
  4. Earned a grade of "B" or above in statistics or an upper level math and an English composition.
  5. Writing sample—250-350 words addressing your ability to complete a rigorous HCM Program and how you will be a leader in the profession of Health Care Management.
  6. Three letters of recommendation (academic or work-related) with at least one from a current or past supervisor.
  7. Résumé of professional experience.
  8. Telephone or face-to-face interview.

Admission to the Nursing program requires the following:

  1. Completed Graduate Application .
  2. Current registered nurse's license in good standing.
  3. Completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
  4. Official college transcripts from each post-secondary institution previously attended. Students who have completed post-secondary academic coursework outside of the United States must submit an official course-by-course transcript evaluation from either World Education Services (WES) or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
  5. Cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a four-point scale in past academic work.
  6. Writing sample—250-350 words.
  7. Two letters of recommendation—academic or work-related.
  8. Résumé of professional experience.

Admission to the Master of Arts in Teaching program requires the following:

  1. Completed Graduate Application .
  2. Official college transcripts from each post-secondary institution previously attended. Students who have completed post-secondary academic coursework outside of the United States must submit an official course-by-course transcript evaluation from either World Education Services (WES) or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
  3. Completion of baccalaureate degree in a science or math discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
  4. Qualifying score on PRAXIS CORE, PRAXIS I, GRE, SAT, or ACT according to MSDE certification criteria.
  5. Analysis of transcripts to determine if all required content coursework has been met to satisfy field of licensure (biology, chemistry or mathematics) requirements.
  6. Two letters of recommendation—academic or work-related.
