MLS 425 Clinical Chemistry II

Expands on introductory biochemistry, physiology and clinical chemistry concepts, covering more complex analytes including hormones, enzymes, tumor markers, cardiac markers, and electrolyte disorders.. This course also includes the clinical areas of toxicology, therapeutic drug monitoring, endocrinology, and immunochemistry. It emphasizes the analytes, testing methods, and disease processes using a body systems approach, with additional training in laboratory data analysis, quality control, and quality improvement. Using simulation exercises and team projects where applicable, students gain experience in the development of SOPs, reference interval studies, and new method or instrument validation studies.
